Naturally Slim Announces Appointment of Industry Veterans to its Board of Directors
Barbara Wachsman and Sarah Ahmad bring extensive industry experience and a deep understanding of employer and consumer needs to drive growth and innovation.
DALLAS, TX — (February 23, 2021) — Naturally Slim® (NS), a digital behavioral health company focused on whole-body health, weight management, and diabetes prevention within the employer-sponsored space, today announced the appointment of two new members to its board of directors. Barbara Wachsman, former Director of Strategy and Engagement for Enterprise Benefits for the Walt Disney Company, and Sarah Ahmad, Senior Vice President of Health and Wellness at Canada-based Shoppers Drug Mart, will further enhance NS’ behavioral change offerings and guide the company’s continued success as a leading digital health solution.
As members of the board of directors, Wachsman and Ahmad will be instrumental in supporting NS’ ongoing innovation and help lead the company on its mission to improve the health and lives of as many people and organizations as possible.
“I am beyond excited to welcome Barbara and Sarah as new members of our board of directors,” said Rob Butler, CEO of Naturally Slim. “Both of these remarkable women have impressive industry experience and truly understand not only the healthcare landscape but specific employer and consumer needs, as well. As we continue to evolve at NS, it is critical that we are backed by a well-rounded, robust board of directors who have the proven experience and passion to support our company growth strategy. Their unique, new viewpoints will make an immediate and tremendous impact.”
Wachsman, who has an unrivaled, proven history in leading strategic initiatives to achieve specific healthcare goals at the Walt Disney Company, will leverage her deep understanding of employer and consumer needs to inform NS’ overarching approach. Previously, Wachsman designed benefits programs that identified and addressed the Walt Disney Company’s long-term goals and objectives for over a decade. Currently, she serves on the advisory boards of four other healthcare companies and as a Senior Advisor to a preeminent healthcare private equity firm.
“Working for one of, if not the, biggest brands in the world, a brand focused on the family, built my deep understanding of the consumer,” said Wachsman. “This understanding was embedded in the healthcare services designed and delivered to our employees and their families. From the consumer sensing methods used across all of Disney products and services, I know what the employee wants from their personal health journey, and I will bring that knowledge to NS. NS is revolutionizing the digital health landscape, and I am looking forward to using my experience and understanding of employer and consumer needs and employee engagement to help guide the company along its growth path.”
As a member of the NS board of directors, Ahmad will support NS’ ongoing expansion and innovation strategy with her years of experience introducing new products and solutions to enhance access to quality care. During her time as Chief Innovation Officer at Magellan Health, Ahmad launched the Magellan Health Studio and designed solutions focused on integrating physical and behavioral health. Prior to Magellan Health, Ahmad served as the Senior Vice President, Innovation and Transformation Strategy for Highmark Health, where she led an internal, human-centered design practice and tested innovative health solutions to deliver value-based, high-quality health experiences.
“I’ve been innovating and operating in healthcare for 25 years and now is the time for me to lean into a board seat with an organization that I believe in,” said Ahmad. “As a woman who both uses the healthcare system for myself and my family and leads in the healthcare ecosystem, my perspective is that successful healthcare solutions must be rooted in the participant’s experience and designed to help them overcome a specific problem. NS is doing just that and paving the way for those who want to take back control of their mental and physical health. I’m looking forward to leveraging my product development, customer experience, and overall innovation expertise to help guide NS through new innovations and partnerships as it continues to expand and transform the lives of millions.”
In addition to Wachsman and Ahmad, NS also appointed Tim Roberts, former Fitbit executive, to its board of directors in mid-September.
