KEY INSIGHTS: Weight-loss program non-negotiables
Behavior support Weight loss
Dr. Tim Church, MD, MPH, PHD dives into recent Wondr Health survey results that reveal participants’ top priorities in a weight-loss program
We know that successful weight loss requires a lot more than good genes and good luck. It requires both skill development, and arguably most important, support. Recognizing the multifaceted nature of weight loss, Wondr Health surveyed over 500 participants to discover what matters most to those embarking on their weight-loss journey.
The results point to the three non-negotiables for a weight-loss program:
- Sleep and stress management tools — 20% of participants said support with sleep and stress management matters most to them. We know that sleep and stress both play a critical role in weight management and overall health. Studies have shown that poor sleep impacts hunger and increases food cravings, while high stress increases cortisol levels, both negatively impacting weight.
- Personalization — 19.1% of participants want a realistic program based on their unique challenges and lifestyle. This is why, at Wondr Health, we always say there is no one-size-fits-all program. Solutions must adapt and be flexible to fit the population’s unique needs.
- Support with motivation and building healthy habits — 16.6 % of participants care most about support with motivation and skill-building for healthy habits. We know that true transformation happens when behaviors change. This is why adding a proven behavioral-change program to your toolkit is key for employee wellbeing and happiness.
These three elements are essential to consider when strategizing your employee well-being plan. By partnering with behavior-change programs that are proven to improve health outcomes, quality of life, and cost-savings, you are proactively taking care of the needs of your employees, empowering them to live healthier and longer lives.
