Eating to Fuel

I used to eat to get full, now I eat to fuel.

Tell us about your starting point.
Last April, I hit rock bottom. I had given up. I’d tried it all. It had been a year and a half since my little girl was born and about a year since I had my thyroid removed. Everything that had worked before that fell short. I couldn’t get the scale to move and more than that, I couldn’t get my mindset to shift. My weight was at an all-time high and my self-esteem at an all-time low.
I remember getting dressed to take my little girl to an Easter egg hunt and I just finally crumbled under the weight of it all. Nothing fit, not even my own skin; I felt like a stranger inside my body. How could my husband still find me attractive? I disgusted myself. I didn’t even have the energy to play with my toddler. I had just about resigned to give up, I’d learn to be okay with being overweight.
How did you hear about Wondr Health?
One day I was checking my email and I saw the information about Wondr from my employer. It was free through our insurance. I decided to sign up. What did I have to lose? I remember receiving the packet with the chips and peanuts and thinking “What in the world?” From the very start, this looked different – and that’s because it was!
What’s different about Wondr?
This isn’t just a quick fix diet that you “do” until you lose weight and then stop. The principles I’ve learned are life-changing. Who would have thought that eating when you’re truly hungry, chewing slowly, and eating what you really love first would be the ticket to transitioning into a new mentality?
I’ve never been told by a diet to eat what you want. On the contrary, it’s always been “stay away from this or that,” “count the calories and feel guilty.” But not Wondr. Instead I’m learning that eating what I crave (slowly) and truly enjoying it will satisfy me. I enjoy my food now instead of just inhaling it.
What do you tell people when they ask what you’re doing differently?
People ask me all the time what I’m doing to lose weight. My answer is, “I used to eat to get full. Now, I eat to fuel.” Wondr has helped to give me control over food.
What have you gained?
I’m regaining my self-confidence, I’m finding that getting dressed is actually fun, and I feel a million times better. Wondr has done that for me. I’ve gained so much: energy, control, and ultimately, my life.
I have lost 50 pounds and I’m still going strong. I also lost a hopeless attitude and an uncomfortable-in-my-own-skin lifestyle.
I am a HUGE fan of the Wondr program. It is a life-changing program and not just a temporary fix. Give it a shot…what do you have to lose?
