Diabetes Prevention Tips
WondrTips
Knowledge is power. And when you know (and help your employees understand) their risk factors for prediabetes and type 2 diabetes, you can make a huge impact.
To help you make an impact in your organization, here are a few diabetes prevention strategies you can implement in your workplace now.
1. Inform. Encourage. Repeat.
Educate your employees on the risks and complications of prediabetes and type 2 diabetes with timely flyers, email campaigns, and office signage. A powerful stat paired with practical advice can help people make healthy changes that reduce their risk of diabetes. And with World Diabetes Day and National Diabetes Month in November, there’s plenty of time to prepare!
2. Cultivate a Healthy Office Culture
Show that you prioritize wellness in your workplace with these easy-to-implement tips:
- A calendar invite that reminds people to take a lap at 2 PM (we do this!)
- Send a weekly email that features a different exercise you can do at your desk or on the go
- Have lunch and learns where local health professionals speak on different wellness topics
- Have fruit available in your breakroom
- Send preventive care reminders a couple of times per year
3. Know Your Audience
If you really want to know what will help your employees take control of their health: ASK THEM! A simple survey asking how you can help them improve their health goes a long way in showing you’re prioritizing their well-being.
If you have any questions about reversing diabetes risk or working a little more wellness into your office culture, you know who to call.
(Hint: It’s not the Ghostbusters.)
